Hello! I'm Annie.

I joined USC's student newspaper, The Daily Gamecock, the moment I stepped on campus and worked there for two years! I started out as an Athlete Features Beat Writer and worked my way up to a Managing Editor before making the switch to public relations. I began working in for South Carolina Athletics in the Communications & PR department at the start of my junior year. I dove right in, learning how to stat soccer games, writing game previews and recaps, and live-tweeting from our various sports' accounts. Throughout my time, I became the secondary for Equestrian, Women's Soccer and Men's Tennis. I was awarded opportunities to travel with the SEC and work events for the conference. My experiences have allowed me to find a true love and passion for sports information!

Gamecock Athletics

This position has helped me narrow down my career aspirations. I've served as the secondary SID for Equestrian, Women's Soccer, and Men's Tennis. I learned how to operate StatBroadcast and Genuis programs, edit in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro, and write previews and recaps across USC sports. I have recorded statistics for soccer, have experience using STATCREW for softball and have used TrackTennis. I have consistently posted in-game updates on X and Instagram across USC sports, and even live-posted on X for a Women's Basketball game. I have created match day programs and written game notes, as well as helped moderate countless press conferences. Through this work, I know I want to work in team media, ultimately as a Sports Information Director.

NCAA

South Carolina Athletics has worked with the NCAA as a host site for the first two rounds of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship both years I have been working for the department. I have served as a media liaison and helped escort visiting teams to and from media events, monitored open locker rooms, and distributed credentials.

Southeastern Conference

Through my internship with South Carolina Athletics, I earned opportunities to travel and work two SEC events. I worked 15 games over five days, assisted with press conference coordination and distributed statistics and credentials for the 2025 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament in Nashville. Then I traveled to Atlanta during the summer to assist with press conference coordination and distribute credentials for the 2025 SEC Football Media Days.

GamecockCentral.com

I joined the team at Gamecock Central as an intern to gain experience from professionals in the sports field. I contributed to the team with feature writing, event coverage and website management during games.

Daily Gamecock

I finished my team with the school newspaper, working as the Assistant Sports Editor, and then as the Managing Editor. I learned how to truly lead a team to accomplish daily coverage while balancing being a full-time student. It was also then that I learned my career aspirations didn't lie in Journalism, but in Communications.

Daily Gamecock

To start my sophomore year, I decided I was ready for more of a challenge and for increased responsibility. I was hired as a beat writer, focusing on athlete profiles. I grew my skills as an interviewer and learned how to find stories through conversation. I started writing stories I was particularly proud of and expanded my ability from game coverage. I was also able to share some of my knowledge by being in a leadership position on the paper, helping recruit and train new writers.

Daily Gamecock

My first semester of college, I knew what I wanted to do. I joined the school paper right away and actively contributed to the sports section throughout the academic year. I learned how to cover games and how to write feature stories, building my confidence in the field, as well as finding my writing "voice."
